Dead-end paved road off Hwy 410.
*Congratulations to Padre69 FTF (and who obviously gets on the road for these way earlier than most!)*
This huge corner lot was once the site of the Farman Pickle
Factory. Within a quarter mile the olfactory senses would kick in and you could tell what kind of pickle was being processed that week: dill, sweet, bread and butters, or any of the 30 kinds the Farman's made.
The two brothers, Dick and Fred, started in 1944 by planting 10 acres of cukes and turning them into good old-fashion dill pickles. By 1988 they put up more than 14 million lbs of cukes.
Dick, by the way, played football at WSU and for the Wash.
Redskins Nat. football league.
The factory was finally bought by Nalleys, and now is
some sort of plant that most of us haven't quite figured out yet... something to do with wood...we hear the machines running... something's happening in there...
When the mt. is out, you can see her from here.
