Geocache Description:

Located in Summit County, the City of Akron, not far from the Towpath.

Young’s Hotel can be seen from this site and the Canal Towpath is located across the road.
Originally built in 1850 as a log cabin for John Young and his wife, Young's evolved into a restaurant for canal travelers, and later into a Hotel.
In 1905 a descendent of Young replaced the log cabin with a grand, 100-room hotel in response to the popularity of Portage Lakes as a vacation spot. (Two years later, the hotel was lost in a fire, but it was rebuilt that same year on its 1905 foundation.) It has now been closed since 2004 with its future unsure.
If you can, imagine the activity that was around this place when the canal was an important part of this areas history.
This is a micro, hopefully hid very well. PLEASE be careful and put it back exactly as you found it so other cachers can enjoy the hide.

Good safe parking off highway.
If you find the cache please put it back exactly where you found it.
Have fun and as always beware of snooping eyes.
It’s ALWAYS a good idea to have a writing instrument with you.
Gloves, long sleeved shirts and extraction tools are helpful on some caches.
LITTER BUGS are everywhere, please haul their trash away (CITO)!! Thanks!!
Finally, please let me know if there are problems with either the cache or its coordinates.

Cache On!!!

Congratulations to NortonPanthers on the FTF
