. Shoulderbone Plantation encompasses 2,325 acres of rolling countryside, pastures, forest, and today stands as a living monument to the time when middle-Georgia was known as the "cultural center" of the state, exemplifying the grand homesteads of the antebellum era. Its lovely pillared antebellum structure was built on its present location in 1850 and has a colorful history. Owner, Robert E. Lanier takes great pride in the history and preservation of this great monument and it was important to him to return Shoulderbone to a working plantation after many years of decline. Presently, the showplace is the sight of many outings, such as quail shoots and hunting trips. Additionally, Shoulderbone is the home to a great herd of high performance Angus cattle.
