Hill-man looks back. Multi-Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
2-stage cache, straight-forward, can be VERY muddy in winter. Stroller/wheelchair-suitable in dry conditions if the path has been trimmed, and the occupant can move a few steps.
Hill-man came down to see the sea close-up, then stopped here for a breather on his way up to the Round Table for tea (More of that sad tale elsewhere). From the cache site he could see back to his Look-out, where he's getting his Revenge, and also the site of the Lost Bottle. While here he had a good inspection of the farming practices of these flatlanders, and was impressed with their good crops and livestock. This is a gentle stroll, pleasant wooded tunnels in summer, it can get boggy in winter, but the only real hazards are racing motor-cycles when they're in season. The racing season is the weekends before the Mountain Circuit TT Race practice week, after TT Race Week, which is the end of May till mid June: and Southern 100 week in mid July. The Southern 100 was so named because the original races were as near as makes no difference 100 miles in length (24 laps of 4.25 miles), this has long since been reduced to include more classes in the limited time available. Latterly the 100 miles was achieved by 12 laps of heats followed by 12 laps of Championship or Consolation Race. Hill-man has to confess he has now lost touch with the modern programme, which may well be different. As an ex-competitor he has vivid memories of early morning practice periods, now not used. The races are still run very efficiently, certainly the TT and some car rallies could learn lessons from the organisers. This is a two-stage cache, the first micro contains the co-ordinates for the main cache. The GPS signal is generally good at the final, but can be patchy under the trees when seeking the micro. The main cache should be an easy find, containing logbook, pencil and small items.
