Geocache Description:

The ford is on a single track road off the Switch Back, near Knocksharry and the A4 Peel to Kirk Michael road. The cache is a small canister with room for a log book and small pencil only. Parking is available for one car on the Switch Back side of the ford.

A ford is a place in a watercourse (most commonly a stream or river) that is shallow enough to be crossed in a vehicle.

This cache is part of a series of caches, taking you to some of the fords that can be driven through on the Island.

The ford is on a single track road off the Switch Back, near Knocksharry and the A4 Peel to Kirk Michael road.

There is a Cist (a small stone-built coffin-like box or ossuary used to hold the bodies of the dead) on a farm near the brooghs at Ballagyr though we never managed to locate it ourselves. It was also on this farm that the finest Polished-stone Axe-head was found in the Isle of Man when ploughing in 1880.

The cache is a small canister with room for a log book and small pencil only.

Parking is available for one car on the Switch Back side of the ford.

As these caches were set in the summer when water levels were low please take care in the winter months when levels will be higher. Also, please take care at each of the cache sites as a number of them are on single track roads.
