Geocache Description:

An easy cache and dash

Lucille Desiree Ball was born August 6, 1911 in Jamestown. Her father died when she was four, and she and her brother were raised by her mother and grandparents in Celoron, New York at 59 Lucy Lane (then known as 8th Street).

Lucy left home at age 15 to enroll in acting school in New York City. Tall and beautiful, she had a modeling career before working her way into films. She eventually became known as the Queen of the B Movies, and appeared in over 60 films. Although born a brunette, she adopted her trademark red hair in 1943. She once said “Once in his life, every man is entitled to fall madly in love with a gorgeous red head.”

In 1940 She married the popular Cuban band leader Desi Arnaz. They created an idea for a television show in which a wild red head marries a Cuban band leader. At first, CBS was uninterested in the show on the grounds that the American public would never accept such a couple. Lucy and Desi formed their own production company named “Desilu”, paid for the pilot episode, and the rest was history. “I Love Lucy” ran from 1951 to 1957 and became the most popular television show in America winning more than 200 awards, including 5 Emmys.

Although she lived in California and was a successful, wealthy business woman, Lucy never forgot her humble roots in Celoron. This cache is placed at the end of her street, a spot she must have passed many, many times on her way to Celoron Park and other favorite haunts.

Watch out for juvie-muggles.
