Geocache Description:

Bob Klemme of Enid, OK conceived the idea for marking the Chisholm Trail and dedicated himself to researching the route through Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. He used the 1871 government map on which surveyors' notes told where the trail crossed each section line.

Beginning in 1990 he marked the Chisholm Trail along section lines in Oklahoma and placed over 400 concrete posts throughout the state, as well as one at the Trail's begining in Kingston, Texas and at the end of the Trail in Abilene, KS. The 400th marker was placed on Wilshire Road near Yukon in September 1997.

Each concrete marker is seven feet high by six inches square, weighs 200 pounds and bears the legend "Chisholm Trail" painted in black letters.

Mr. Klemme has received recognition and several awards for his endeavor.

The coordinates will take you to the Chisholm Trail marker on Highway 11, east of Medford. From there project 632 feet at 90 degrees to the cache. I must tell you that I have never projected before, so I hope this is close!!

Please bring a pen to sign the log.
