Geocache Description:

Not many people will realise that one of the most famous of Robin Hoods merry men was in fact from Hathersage and died not too far away from the lovely St Michaels church where he is buried.

The posted co ordinates will bring you to the spot where Little John is buried in St Michaels church. Please take time to look around the church if it's open, just inside the porch is a 600 year old stone that is thought to have once marked Little Johns grave. You can just about make out a cross and two sheilds and the initials L I (or is it a J?)

Also, Little Johns grave was opened up in 1784 by Capt. James Shuttleworth and inside was a thighbone which measured 81cms which would have made Little John over 2 meters tall - very impressive for someone from the 13th century!

At Little Johns grave is the info that you need to find his loot. The final cache is not hidden in the church, it's about a .21 walk away in a lovely spot that may or may not be too far from where he lived, either way you'll have to go through a door to get it (but don't be put off - no-one lives there)!

At his grave you will find out where he died. Using the place where he died from the gravestone, in time honoured fashion convert the letters into numbers ie A=1, B=2, C=3 and so on.
The cache is at.............
N53 20. (5th letter) (1st letter) 0
W001 38 (6th letter) (6th letter) (7th letter)

Please us the additional waypoints for where to park and the start of the footpath.
