You will be searching for a magnetic container with room only for
small coins and log, so bring a writing utensil. Watch for muggles
in the area.
This is the first in a series of caches celebrating movies, both
good and bad.
This cache is in honor of Rain Man who starred Tom Cruise and
Dustin Hoffman. Cruise plays a self-absorbed yuppie Charlie Babbitt
who learns after his father death that he has a brother named
Raymond (played by Hoffman) whom he does not remember. In fact,
Charlie once lived with him, mispronouncing his name ‘rain
man’. But after Raymond injured Charlie, he was moved to an
institution full time. Soon, Charlie learns that his brother is an
autistic savant. In an effort to get some of the $3 million dollar
trust fund left to Raymond, he kidnaps him and drives cross country
back to California. In this quest, he soon discovers a love of his
brother and begins to understand him. The film is quite enjoyable
to see the dynamic change in Charlie toward his brother from the
beginning to the end. Among many memorable scenes, I find the pair
in Las Vegas quite entertaining and amusing. But, we also learned
that Raymond has several idiosyncrasies, including what airline
Raymond will only fly and which store Raymond must shop at for his
boxer shorts?
