Geocache Description:

The West Barwon Reservoir was constructed in 1965 and is the main catchment for the Barwon water supply system serving the Geelong region. It is located just outside of the township of Forrest and is easily reached off the Forrest-Apollo Bay Road.

The West Barwon Reservoir area contains BBQ's, picnic tables and restrooms. It is ideal for a picnic and offers stunning views over the dam and the Barwon River.

Fishing is allowed from the the dam banks or wall (a long way to cast though if it's not full!).

You are looking for a medium (1L) Sistema container containing a pen and logbook. After parking the car follow the sealed path along the dam wall to reach the cache location.

After finding the cache you can continue down the walking track, along the spillway, across the river and back to the carpark. This walking track contains downhill sections that is uneven in parts. If you're lucky and it's rained a lot recently the spillway and pump will be in action.
