Geocache Description:

Coordinates given above are for a cache located near the North Clear Creek Falls. Falls are not visible from main road and are missed by most. The cache has a terrain rating of 1.5 due to the dirt path.

North Clear Creek Falls is located at an elevation of 10,000 ft. in the Rio Grande National Forest, and is rated as one of the top 10 falls in Colorado with a vertical drop of 100 ft. The road to the cache has spectacular vistas of the Rio Grande National Forest area. Take time to stop in Lake City from the north, and in Creede from the south. North Clear Creek Falls is located just off CO 149 between Blue Mesa Reservoir and US 160 in South Fork, CO. From South Fork, CO go north to just past mile marker 48, and turn SSE on forest road 510. Forest road 510 (0.8 mile) is well signed and paved to the overlook parking area. From Gunnison, CO go west on US 50 10 miles to Blue Mesa Reservoir and turn south on CO 149. Forest road 510 is 78 miles from Gunnison, CO.

Cache replaces a virtual cache we had at the overlook fence which was rebuilt in 2008. Cache is a small ammo box located at a rock within sight of falls and is covered with small stones. Please recover cache after accessing.
