Il quadro storico rientra nella Prima Guerra Mondiale (28 luglio 1914 - 11 novembre 1918), quello geografico é il Veneto con il suo storico fiume Piave.
La canzone "Il Piave" recita la famosa strofa "Il Piave mormorò: non passa lo straniero" perché essa narra l'avvenimento accaduto durante la Prima Guerra Mondiale secondo il quale, in seguito alla disfatta di Caporetto, il generale Cadorna (comandante delle truppe italiane) tentando una estrema resistenza, costituì lungo il fiume Piave una linea di difesa che resistette. Questo permise all'esercito italiano di riorganizzarsi sotto il comando del nuovo comandante: il Generale Armando Diaz.

The historical part of the First World War (July 28, 1914 - November 11, 1918), the geographical one is the Veneto with its historic river Piave.
The song "The Piave" reads the famous verse "The Piave whispered: the foreigner does not pass" because it said the incident happened during the First World War, according to which, following the defeat of Caporetto, General Cadorna (commander of the troops Italian) attempting an extreme resistance, formed by the river Piave a line of defense that withstood. This allowed the Italian army to regroup under the command of the new commander, General Armando Diaz.
