I've explored this area of the park for a while to find a good view
of the bridge from the north-west, and a decent spot for a cache -
the area is mostly a let down. No views from the small trail that
leads to private property, a homeless camp (I provided the
trailhead waypoint to avoid it), and lots of PO all over the place.
This morning I decided to explore a little further off trail and
was rewarded with what might be an old wagon road! Of course, it
could be left over from when the area was prepped for the bridge,
but it looks older than that judging the growth on and around it.
I'll let you decide.
Once you leave the trail, you'll pick-up stickers during most
seasons, and you'll have to duck under a few bushes - I ducked
under only manzanita and coyote bush, so if it looks like PO is in
your way, find another way! The road continues down past the cache,
but it's quite overgrown and I only went on about another 100 feet.
Unless YOUR kids actually listen to "Don't touch any plants!" I
wouldn't bring them on this one.
