Vrixslösa husaby
Medeltidskungarna på sin säkra borg Näs behärskade redan hela Götaland. För att erövra mer land byggde man ett system av strategiska byar ända fram till Gamla Uppsala Det första steget från Näs är där du nu står, Vrixlösa husaby. På andra sidan vattnet ligger nästa, Gränna husaby. (Ursprunget till Gränna är en husaby.)
Så småningom när hela Svealand erövrats förlorade husabyarna sin funktion som strategiska byar och blev förvaltningsenheter för kungamakten. St. Laurentii kapell som ligger här strax intill var troligen husabyns gårdshelgedom.
The medieval kings on their secure fortress Näs already mastered the entire Götaland. In order to conquer more land they built a system of strategic villages, husabyar, all the way to Old Uppsala. The first step of the those is where you now stand, Vrixlösa Husaby. On the other side of the water is next, Gränna Husaby. (The origin of Gränna is a Husaby.)
Eventually, when the whole of Svealand was conquered the husaby lost its role as strategic villages and became administrative units of the monarchy.
St. Laurentii chapel lying here next was probably the sanctuary of the husaby.
