Geocache Description:

WINTER UPDATE: Not very winter friendly, but it's still out there if you're in the area and want to give it a go.

Many cachers have heard of, or maybe even visited, the
first geocache ever hidden, which was placed by Dave Ulmer outside of Portland, Oregon, on May 3, 2000.

Here in Minnesota, the first cache ever hidden was,
Alvin's Phone Line (GC9FF), which was placed outside of Orr, Minnesota, on November 5, 2000, almost exactly six months after Ulmer hid his cache. It's a great tribute, but I won't spoil the story, it's all explained inside the cache.

This cache was placed as an ode to Alvin's Phone Line. If you're ever near Orr, I suggest you make a point to visit it. I found it on July 19, 2009.

When logging your find here, please feel free to share your memories of Alvin's Phone Line if you've ever been there.

Here's to the Land of 10,000 caches!

(Notes: Located not too far off a paved walking trail that runs along the Vermillion River.)
