Geocache Description:

The cache is a custom camo’d wide-mouth jar. There’s room for TBs, and other swag.

This can be a quick park and grab or part of a special day at an incredibly beautiful place. There is a $8 day use fee, but if you tell the entrance person that you are just going in to take a look at the view and will be right out, they will likely not charge you. We had been visiting this area for many years before we discovered this bridge, the view, and the beach. It’s truly awe-inspiring and the bridge frames a picture that a camera can’t do justice. There’s plenty of parking and there can be lots of muggles so be wary.

The bridge was designed by Henry E. Kuphal and built by a private contracting firm in 1939-1940. The governor and lieutenant governor dedicated the bridge in ceremonies on June 9, 1940. It was named the Frederick W. Panhorst Bridge in 1974, in honor of a long-time state engineer who specialized in bridges. It rises 100 feet from the bottom of Russian Gulch.

There are a couple other caches in the park including one at the picnic grounds which is one of our favorite spots on the coast.
