Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the posted coordinates, but it would be a good place to park.

Where have all the trees gone? Tawa, Matai, Rimu, Kowhai, Totara, Karaka - these and many more used to blanket the area before farming and urbanisation cleared them out.

Stand at the final coordinates and look to the East - what do you see? Urban sprawl from the bottom of Porirua Harbour right through to the Southern end of Tawa.

180deg Panorama N-E-S

Now look to the West. You are standing right on the edge of farmland, and the suburbs of Churton Park and Khandallah are visible beyond that.

180deg Panorama S-W-N

Look to the North and then the South. You can see plantations of Pinus radiata. These have replaced the natives on the Tawa skyline.

However, all is not lost! To get to this spot, you have walked through and above a beautiful remnant of native bush. I highly recommend taking the bushwalk from Brasenose Pl through to Peterhouse St.

Now solve the simple puzzle to find out where to see these magic views in person:

S41 (Karaka-Matai)(Totara-Kowhai).(Matai+Rimu)(Karaka+Totara-Matai)(Matai-Tawa)
E174 (Tawa)(Tawa+Rimu).(Karaka+Totara-Matai)(Matai)(Tawa+Rimu)

The Cache
A camo 1l Sistema, containing a log book, gel pen and Cammo Ammo GC when hidden.
Park at the posted coordinates and take the path signposted to Peterhouse St / Achilles Close. Where the path branches, keep going straight ahead up the hill.
