This is an area that is very sandy like a beach. It is a 90º bend in the creek that has a sandy beach like area on the inside of bend. Depending on water flow & weather you will be able to have a swim or splash around in the creek.
I found this spot by looking in the street directory and seeing a dotted walking track so I investigated. This was about a couple of years ago. It took a bit of finding this spot but when I did, I new it was a gem. It seamed to be a very well used area as there were many foot steps in the sand. So I figured it was a well known spot that the locals visited often. But hay why they should have there own little paradise all to themselves. I have given you GZ for the cache but I will need to give you a couple of coordinates to make your walk a little easer.
But first Park your car at the end of Station Street where you will come to a gate & a street sign saying Station Street Fire Trail and go from there.
Walk along Station Street Fire Trail towards Wayward point 1, which is the start of the walking track.
The coordinates are S 33º 46 . 387’ E 150º 36 . 674’
From here it is a walking track & rock scramble to the bottom of the valley.
This cache has a terrain rating of 4 where as Blind as a Bloody Bat (cache No GCZQWK) has a rating of 3 ½. If you have done this cache & rock scramble, it is something like that but you will be travelling to the valley floor.
From Wayward point 1 follow a walking / rock scramble track to Wayward point 2. This track will go to the valley floor and creek.
The coordinates are S 33º 46 . 522’ E 150º 36 . 573’
Once you reach wayward point 2, from this point it is best to find the cache.
The cache is an Ammo box.
A pair of gloves could help when looking, always be aware of snakes & spiders in the bush and have fun.
Please when returning the cache, place it back as you found it.
Once you have found the cache return to wayward point 2 & rock scramble to the creek & enjoy yourself.
Depending on time of year have a splash around in the water & cool off.
It would be wise regardless of time of year to bring a beach towel. Well that is what most people take to the beach. They sit or lie down & enjoy themselves & have a read while you’re at it.
While you’re at it, why not bring with you a cold drink or hot water thermos & have a cuppa.
The reasoning I was walking in this area a couple of years ago I wanted to do a walk along a walking track that I found marked in the UBD street directory & 1:25,000 Penrith Topographic Map. Which crosses the Glenbrook Creek near hear & travels down to the Blue Pool or travels up the creek to other walking tracks to Ross Crescent at Blaxland & beyond. But on this day I was unable to find the walking track when I crossed the creek. And never came back to investigate. After that I just found other walking tracks to do.
What I’m hoping to do is if people find this cache & have or now of people that have walked this track to leave details of the walk when they log the find or leave a note on the log page.
As the information comes in I will enter it onto this page for other people to use.
In the end I’m hoping this cache is a starting or finishing point for a bush walk.
I must say it’s a nice starting or finishing spot for a walk.
