For your
information, this is a large pill bottle cache fairly close
to the highway. Just a small scramble required. The cache contains
a pocket knife, a sewing kit, a screw driver and a fishing lure.
Trade items must be small.
For your enjoyment, the cache is placed by an appropriate
geographical feature, named after the rare and spectacularly
beautiful American White Pelican. According to the Fish and
Wildlife Branch of the Ministry of the Environment, there are only
350 nesting pairs of this creature in the Cariboo-Chilcotin Region.
There are about 40 to 50 adult birds (never have seen a young one)
that summer at the South end of Anahim Lake. They stand almost 1.8
m tall and have an 2.4 m wingspan. They have a unique grace both in
the air and on the water. The WWII PBY Catalina must have been
modeled after this bird.
The photo above was taken July 2008.
Congratulations to Sluty for FTF !!!
