Geocache Description:


Backa Kvarn uppfördes 1899. Kvarnens sammanlagda golvyta är omkring 250 m2. På tiden då det begav sig var detta de båda Trögdernas största kvarn med högst kapacitet. Kvarnverket omfattade 3 par stenar samt 2 valsstolar. Efter modernisering drevs kvarnen av en elmotor på 40 hk. Kvarnen har idag all utrustning kvar och det är nästan som man tryckt på stoppknappen och gått hem för dagen.

Fotot är från runt 1947. Hur den ser ut idag överlåter jag till dig/er att utforska.

Den tredje i en serie av vinddrivna kvarnar ute på Trögden.
Gömman är en bit från kvarnen i anslutning till en byggnad från 1200-talet som också är värd att studera närmare. Kvarnen är idag på privat mark men fotvandrar du en bit (ca. 400 m) från gömman kan du se hela kvarnbyggnaden. Kordinater till vägen upp mot kvarnen finns på första "loggremsan".

Backa Mill was built in 1899. The mill's total floor area is about 250 m2. Back when the mill was built and was in action it was the one of the two Trögderna's largest mill with a maximum capacity. The mill comprised 3 pairs stones, and 2 rolling chairs. After upgrading the mill was operated by an electric motor of 40 hp. The mill today has all the equipment left and it's almost like you press the stop button and gone home for the day. The photo is from around 1947. How it looks today, I leave for you to explore. The third in a series of wind-powered mills in the Trögden. The cache is a bit away from the mill in relation to a building from 1200-century, which is also worthy to study further. The mill is now on private land, but if you hike a bit from the cache, you can see the whole mill building. Coordinates to the road up to the mill is at the cache.
