The stone construction European-style building was built as an end of Edo Period and a foreigner entertainment place.
It was used as the Guest House for a while.
After the Meiji Restoration, it became jurisdiction of the Department of the Imperial Household, and the name was also changed into Hama-rikyu.
Emperor Meiji also comes to visit frequently.
After World War II, the garden was given to Tokyo, and it was charged open to the public.
