If you don't like "WOW"
factor, scenic, this is fun, type of earthcaches, then this event
is not for you!
Sand Cave, Kentucky
Flash! Flash! Flash! The
start of the event will be at the Wilderness Camp ground. The
pavillion will be located next to the Lewis Hollow Trail (trail to
Skylight Cave). After the meet and greet, show and tale is over the
groups will split up and head out to discover earthcache
locations.
The Sand Cave group will
leave out by vehicles, led by Cav Scout to the trail head and few
miles down the road.
Look at the newly listed
waypoint for the exit to the Camp ground.
Its that time of year again for the second annual 2009 Earth
Cache Day in the Cumberland Gap National Historic Park.
This years event will be held at the trail head to the Sand
Caves and White Rocks geological formations. A pavillion will be
available along with a bigger display of cool things I found while
Earth Caching. There will be many topics to discuss this year.

Hey Cav, when is the event gonna start? Start time is 0900
hours.
Cav Scout will take the Sand Cave hikers the Earth Caches
high up on the ridge. Be prepared for a 9 mile round trip. We will
go slow and easy. You will be guided to 4 Earth Caches.
Konnarock Kid has volunteered to be the tour guide for all
the "drive up to" type of Earth Caches in the park. There are many
to be found. This group will also get to do the Gap Cave tour at 2
pm. You will also drive to the nearby ECs that include the
Pinnacle, Gap Cave, a Indian Mound, the White Rocks, a Meteorite
Crater, and few others.
Name tapes will be provided this year to those who
attend.
There will be geocoins and travel bugs to log and take
away.
There will be a cook out after the hike to Sand Cave. The
location will be at the camp ground where all the geocachers are
camping. I will provide the hot dogs, hamburgers and charcoal. I am
seeking volunteers to bring some covered dishes.
The Cumberland National Historic Park has been a big help in
providing items to make this event a success. They also encourage
Earth Caches in its park. So come one and come all! Let this be a
meeting location for all those who love to hike and Earth
Cache.
