This cache is in Sharpe Park and Montgomery-Duban Headlands near
Anacortes on Fidalgo Island. This park is just a few years old,
but new trails have been well marked, and while it was new to us,
it is absolutely beautiful.
After a wonderful trip back home to Australia, we decided to
celebrate and place a small bit of Australia here in Washington.
This cache is an ammo can, filled with fun Australian swag. Please
come and enjoy just a little bit of Aussie spirit while you enjoy
this beautiful park.
The park is open dawn to dusk, and you will want to park in the
parking area off Rosario Road. Here is a link to the park's
official website:

and
click here for the trail map.
The hike is about a half mile, and does get a little steep at the
end. It will take you through some beautiful old growth forest, and
then out to where you get some stunning views of the Ocean. The
final coordinates were a little tough because of tree cover, and a
large rock face on your right as you are coming down the hill.
Please rehide carefully, so that the cache can't be seen from the
path. The cache is within yards of the path, so no bushwacking is
required.
To make things a little easier, take the main trail past the pond,
turn left onto the upper or lower trail, and then right onto the
Connector trail that heads for the coast. Cache is on the
switchbacks before the trail finally heads North.
Good luck and happy geo-hunting.
