'27%' may be in a location which might not be considered truly
'Melbourne', but it's worthiness made it a necessary inclusion in
the series.
Martyrs Rd in Warburton is possibly the steepest street in the
greater Melbourne area. At 27% it certainly would be hard to beat
(and equally hard to walk up!). Its slope even required it to be
built out of a concrete mix rather than the usual bitumen (a trick
we learnt while visiting the world's truly steepest street in
Dunedin, NZ.)
If you're doing this one on foot, make sure to up the difficulty
rating. If you're going to do it on bike, increase it
further!!
If you're in a car, well, just make sure your brakes work before
you come back down....
