This cache is located along Tannery Creek, a little known creek in Naples, NY. This cache has proven to be one of the most difficult in the area. We have taken at least 20 people, men, women and children to the GZ, so fear not!
To get to this cache, go to the Naples Highway Dept lot on Tannery Creek Road in Naples, off Rte 53, and park across the road from the barns. Be sure to park where you will NOT interfere with the highway department operations! Walk BEHIND the barns and you'll see the creek. There isn't a good path to the creek so you'll have to scramble a bit. You will be going on a 1/4 mile hike up the creek, so be sure to wear shoes that can get wet.
Take the clue. You WILL need it!
This cache hunt is a FUN HIKE! You will first encounter several small cascades, and then a 20 foot high waterfall along the way. The 20 foot waterfall can be passed by using the trail to the LEFT of the falls. You can grab the roots of trees to help you climb.
Once past that falls, you'll arrive at a 40 foot waterfall with a large pool at it's base. On a warm to hot day, a dip in the 4 foot deep pool is refreshing. In late summer the gully, especially at the large waterfall, is just loaded with large, juicy RED rasberries.
The GPS signal may be weak or jumpy, so more specific instuctions are encrypted in the hint.
The cache is a lock 'n lock box. Please replace it carefully so that it doesn't wash away in a landslide.
NOTE: If you are adventurous and surefooted on slippery ground, note the small trail to the right of the 40 foot falls. The trail at the top is slippery, but you can actually walk BEHIND the falling water. It's a thrill!
