Geocache Description:

It’s time to lock those hubs and do some Jeep Cachin’ with the GR8GPN family.

This trip is going to serve as a “maiden trail voyage” for my Jeepster Commando since undergoing a major power train and drive train swap. Keep your fingers crossed

GR8GPN will provide (breakfast) Dunford Doughnuts for all who attend. Please bring plenty to drink and a lunch to eat on the trail.

Where: 5 Mile Pass area. (Sunshine Canyon) The “Rattlesnake Jeep Trail”

When: 9:00A.M, Saturday, September 26th, 2009

Details: (Please read carefully!)

This is a 4x4 trail ride event. Bring your 4x4 or ATV out for some fun in the desert.

Trail description: The Rattlesnake Jeep Trail holds a rating of 3.5 (on the Moab scale). The Red Rock 4-wheelers 3.5 rating description is as follows:
“Roads in difficult terrain. Expect to drag front, rear, or middle occasionally. Excellent stock truck or utility vehicle required, with considerable driving skill needed.”

I would not recommend driving a bone stock 4x4 utility over this trail, unless it is a Jeep Rubicon or Toyota FJ40. A small lift kit, bigger than stock tires, skid plates, and one locking differential will help tremendously. However, the experience of the driver plays a huge role is how well a vehicle does. If you feel comfortable bringing a stock vehicle to this trail, GR8.

The trail is approx. 3 miles long. We will have a 9AM meeting and snack at that time. We will set up vehicle order according to equipment and driving skill. GR8GPN is willing to “spot” you through the rough spots. Please, let’s keep the rock stacking to a minimum.
We should be done with the trail around 2PM. At this time, we will find a shady area and have a tailgate lunch. TB’s, geocoins and any trackables can be exchanged / discovered. GR8GPN’s Jeepster Commando is a Travel Bug (Ref# TBNH77), anyone in attendance will be allowed to log it, just ask.

Recommended equipment to bring:
Spare tire
Jack
Water
Tow Strap
Basic tool kit
Your sense of Adventure!

This is a children friendly event. However, there are open mine shafts in the area. Keep a watchful eye on your children at ALL times.

Attend this event at your own risk.

As you log "will attend" please mention the vehicle you plan to bring and if you will have any open seats in it. If so, please consider taking on a passenger. There will be people who would like to attend and ride along with someone else. I will try to arrange rides for these folks the best I can.
