Mesola
L’imponente castello, progettato da Giovan Battista Aleotti e costruito dall’architetto Antonio Pasi tra il 1578 e il 1583, presenta quattro torri pentagonali e sorge a ridosso dell’argine destro del Po di Goro. Castello di Mesola Eretto verso la fine del ‘500 per volere di Alfonso lI d’Este, fu residenza estiva e di caccia dei duchi. Un tempo, dal lato meridionale, si sviluppava una muraglia di oltre 12 chilometri che circondava il grande bosco ove si svolgevano le ricchissime battute di caccia dei duchi di Ferrara. Il castello è attorniato da una cinta di basse tettoie oggi adibite a negozi e a botteghe artigiane, che un tempo accoglievano il personale di corte, le scuderie, i magazzini e le cantine. Di proprietà della Provincia di Ferrara, è attualmente sede di numerose attività espositive e del Centro di Educazione Ambientale del Parco del Delta del Po. E’ facilmente raggiungibile dalla Statale Romea.
