Kyrkjegardsfjellet – eller Kirkegårdsfjellet – er en av de lettest
tilgjengelige toppene på Venabydsfjellet med sine 1046 moh, ca 800
meter fra parkeringsplassen. Herfra kan man se både Rondane,
Kvitfjell og Jotunheimen. Cachen er plassert slik at man skuer
utover Gudbrandsdalen og Jernholt, en gammel setergrend. På din vei
opp mot toppen vil du se at det skimrer i glimmer (kråkesølv) langs
stien. På Venabygdsfjellet finner du forekomster av dette mineralet
på Kyrkjegardsfjell og Trabelif
I følge et gammelt sagn skal Kyrkjegardsfjellet ha fått navnet sitt
etter at en jente ble borte i fjellet. Bygdefolket mente hun måtte
være tatt av de underjordiske og tok med seg kirkeklokkene til
toppen av fjellet. Klokkene ringte og da så de jenta ytterst på en
fjellhylle. Men så plutselig røk klokkestrengen og jenta forsvant
igjen.
Eng: From the peak of Kyrkjegardsfjell (1046 above sea
level) you can see Rondane, Jotunheimen and Kvitfjell. The cache is just a short walk of 800 meters from the parking. On your way up
you can see the shimmering stones of mica along the track. In
Venabydsfjellet this mineral only occurs at Trabelifjell and
Kyrkjegardsfjellet. Literary Kyrkjegardsfjellet means mount
graveyard. According to an ancient story, a young girl disappeared
while looking after her cattle. The locals thought she was taken by
the trolls and carried the church bell up the mountain. When they
started ringing they saw the girl standing in the horizon, but
suddenly the rope broke and the girl vanished into the mountain.

The cache is not avaiable during winter. I will visit the cache at
least 3 times a year, spring, summer and automn. If maintenance is needed when I am absent, the geocacher Ingma will look after
it.
