Geocache Description:

One of two caches placed in Rookery Park.

The cache is now a nano placed near to Rookery House, a grade two listed building which sadly is now boarded up. Please bring your own pencil.

Rookery House was once the home of Barbara Spooner who married William Wilberforce, hence the name of the cache. William was the guiding force in the abolition of slavery.

The park celebrated it's centenary in 2005. Just recently the beautiful sunken garden has been renovated and well worth an opportunity to sit and appreciate the hard work put into it.

Please take time to sit and enjoy the view of the gardens while signing the log.

There are a couple of entrances into the park but the best (and safest) is at the rear of the park where there is either a car park or on road parking. Please note that although the park is available 24/7 the gates to the car park close at dusk.

Well done Graham for being FTF.
