Geocache Description:

Welcome to the IDY series of caches in Idyllwild County Park. This park has a great trail system that includes easy trails for families and strenuous ones for the more athletic.

You can access these caches from the end of Riverside County Playground Road or the Nature Center entrance off Highway 243. There is a day use fee for this area. Some try to avoid the fee by parking at the end of Delano but I say let’s help support the parks. All IDY caches are within arm’s reach of the trail, no bushwacking in the County Park!

Manzanita grows in sunny areas between the trees. The living branches are reddish brown and the leaves are light olive green. The spring flowers are pink and the beries look like tiny apples. The Spanish word for apple is 'manzana' and so 'manzanita' means little apples.

This one is a short walk from the parking lot off Hwy 243, or make it part of a longer loop hike and grab the other IDY caches!
