Geocache Description:

This cache is located at the wetlands by Hennepin and Hopper Lakes off Route 26. There is parking close by.

This area was farmland until 2001. At that time, The Wetlands Initiative acquired the land and stopped the pumps that drained the area of water.

From the website: "Since restoration began, diverse natural communities have been flourishing. Remnant species native to sedge meadows, fens, and marshes have appeared on the site, including a carpet of the state-endangered yellow monkey-flower not seen in the area for at least two decades."

This is a beautiful area that is not very well known. A lot of work was put into restoring this land. We wanted to place a cache here to make people more aware of this project.

The cache is a tupperware container that holds a log and several trade items.

The cache is not in the plants or water. Please be respectful of this delicate ecosystem! This is public land and the public is encouraged to visit and read the educational kiosks.

Please take care to notice the placement of the cache and put it back exactly as you found it.

First to find gets a very lovely pathtag :)

NOTE: This geocache is now a hybrid - geocache/letterbox. There is still a geocaching log, but there is also a zipped bag at the bottom that contains a hand-carved rubber stamp and log book for letterboxing. Please do not take this stamp or the paper log!
