Geocache Description:

Kenmore 'Model Village' From The Air

When visiting Kenmore you are struck by just how picteresque the place is. There is the lochside location and impressive mountain range, and then there are the buildings themselves. Most noticeable are the unusual church, the Kenmore Hotel, the whitewash cottages and the gates to Taymouth Castle. The orderdness of the place is no accident as the Kenmore we see today was built in one phase in the 1700s by the ruling Breadalbane family as a 'model village'. To encourage the place to be successful many of the cottages were provided to local people free of charge for those who brought a skill to the area. These 'new settlers' made a good go of it and the main village is very much unchanged today.

There aren't any takeaways, pubs, petrol stations or cinemas. When you visit the place it's virtually the same as when Tom Weir filmed it in the 1970s (apart from there being more cars!).
Take a wander around the place and get a feel for the history.

To try and find a safe place for the cache I have placed it in the middle of a mound of trees. GPS reception is likely to be poor there but the clue is pretty specific. To enter the trees please follow the path all the way round to the driving range and then at the end of this path the undergrowth isn't quite so thick and this is your best route in. Please make sure that the cache is properly re-hidden as I think this area is popular with children playing.
