Geocache Description:

AS OF 6/22/2019 THIS CACHE HAS BEEN ADOPTED AND REPLACED

Back when this cache was originally hidden in 2009, rube123 stood as the moniker that me and my dad both operated under back when we were both still in our geocaching prime. Fast forward just shy of ten years and following my re-visitation of the hobby over the past year, I was pleasantly surprised to stumble across this cache's still active listing, kept alive by kindred neighborhood folk who went through the effort of replacing it's countless waterlogged containers and logbooks, considering we had essentially abandoned the cache less than two years after it was placed under the assumption the permit that used to be required for hides in these parks would eventually expire resulting in the cache being forcefully extracted from the woods.

About a year ago, I decided to douse myself head to toe in nostalgia and take a leisurely stroll down the old sugar bush loop and pick up and easy find, considering I was the one who originally placed it. About twenty minutes later I emerged from the forest with a myriad of insect bites and whole bunch of mud on my clothing for the road, the cache had eluded its own creator. Things began to look more dire in the coming months as a myriad of DNF logs started to stack up on the listing, essentially sealing the fate of old sugar bush loop as she appeared to be MIA, and because the email account associated with the original rube123 account had most likely been cast into the abyss, I had no way of revitalizing it through a new container or adoption to another account.

After a few back and forth emails with groundspeak support, I have successfully been able to usurp ownership of the cache placed by the ghost of rube123, just a month shy of 10 years ago. The cache container has been replaced in the same location, the coordinated have been updated, the cache itself follows all rules and regulations regarding hidden objects in the Cleveland Metroparks, and all is ready to be set into motion.

You are looking for a small plastic tupperware container covered in silver duct tape with room for various goodies, located just off of the sugar bush/yellow bike trail. Please bring your own writing utensil to sign the logbook.

It's nice to know that I can still reminisce on cool summer nights spent looking for treasure in the woods before life caught up to me. I am overwhelmingly grateful for those of you who performed maintenance on the cache over following our untimely abandonment, and for everyone who has ever looked for our little metroparks cache after all these years, and for everyone else who follows in their footsteps in the coming years.
