Geocache Description:

attached to fence

Cheshire Railings, the black and white iron fencing at road junctions and bends is a unique and distinctive feature of the county's highway landscape dating back to 1929. Time and road accidents have unfortunately taken their toll. They were introduced as a safety measure.

Far from being exclusive I have notied several of these in other Northern Counties.

There is great debate amongst Aficionados of this type of fencing as to whether the uprights should be one black and two white or one black and four white or as I have seen all white or all black like the ones at Jodrell Bank.

CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN WHEN SEARCHING BY THE SIDE OF ROADS.
