Tucson is "known"
as a cycling friendly town and even in this friendly environment
there are accidents between motorist and bicycles. This series
brings attention to Ghost Bikes & Riders throughout the Tucson
area. The Ghost Bikes are somber memorials for bicyclists who are
killed or hit on the street. They are bicycles painted completely
white and are set close to the crash site usually with a small
plaque. They serve as a reminder to the tragedy that occured on an
otherwise anonymous street or corner. Ghost Riders are locations
where the Ghost Bike has been removed for one reason or another, or
where a white bike memorial either has not been placed or cannot be
placed. They are both a silent statement in support of cyclists'
right to safely travel the public thourghfares.
Obviously, if you
are at one of the bike locations the cache will be easily located
on the bike without any required disturbance of the memorial. There
are a few locations where a cache had to be located away from the
memorial due to the proximity of other caches in the area. Take a
pair of tweezers with you so it's easier to grab the cache
container.

least 3 feet clearance as you pass.
