The Dried Up Pond Traditional Cache
GeoMug: Not sure what's going on here... As I was driving by I realized all the trees were cut down... The city has this zoned as a natural area, and someone cut all the trees down. Located and retrieved the ammocan from under all the fallen trees.

Once parked, you can walk along the road allowance, passing by old old farmhouse (no longer there), an old golf driving range (no longer there), and finally a large pond full of ducks, geese and many marsh plants (no longer there).
I've wondered why in only a few years this large pond has suddenly completely dried up. You can see the old fence that used to run along side the pond and the old dried up cattails, but no water anymore. I think the reason may be that we've had very little rain for many years now, or more likely, the urban sprawl has re-directed the runoff away from this area.
The city is re-zoning this area as a natural area, and public park. It appears in the plans for this to be a pond/lake again at some point, I look forward to seeing what happens. I included a picture showing the re-zoning map.
