Geocache Description:

Enjoy this cache and the history surrounding it.

The old Astoria ferry terminal is just to the right of the cache location. The old ferry used to putt across the Columbia river before the Astoria Megler bridge was completed in 1966. Enjoy the cache and the history nearby!

The movie Free Willy (made in 1993) had a scene filmed at this dock as the fish market and the people throwing the fish around were from Pikes Place Market in Seattle.

I obtained these images from the old VHS version of Free Willy. I basically took a screen shot with my camera of the scene, so they aren't HD quality, but that's ok. They still show the interesting history of the area! 16 years after the movie was made there is now a cache there!

The walkway on the right is the same one as the one leading to the cache!

If you look closely between the two characters heads you can see the signs about the ferry in the background!
