Geocache Description:

Located between Science and Literature, this cache celebrates both.

Nestled between the California Academy of Sciences and the Garden of Shakespeare's Flowers, this location is a good place to sit and ponder the creative connections that span the Two Cultures.

Designed in 1928 by the California Spring Blossom and Wildflower Association, the Shakespeare Garden honors the plants and flowers mentioned in the Bard's poems and plays. It's a great place for a picnic, child's birthday party or wedding.

Just over the fence is the new California Academy of Sciences building, a stunning update of the old dusty (but cozy and lovable) natural history museum. The new Academy was designed by Renzo Piano, and has a living roof of native plants (none of Shakespeare's flowers here!). While the open plan of the building eliminates some of the charm that came from stumbling into odd corners in the old space, the new Morrison Planetarium and Tropical Rainforest are simply astounding. Be prepared to wait in line, or have someone else wait for you while you pick off the half dozen or so caches in the near vicinity.

The cache is a military surplus decon container. It is home base for the Two Cultures micro Compass Rose Geocoin: if you ever see that traveler here, please leave it until I can get the accumulated photos off the attached usb drive!

Congrats to STAMOS711 on FTF!
