Geocache Description:

Situated 20 kilometers southwest of Townsville, the Ross River Dam has a catchment area of 750 sq kms and a capacity of 234,000 megalitres. The Ross River Dam is the major source of water for domestic and industrial users for the Townsville region.

To get the Cache drive past the main dam entrance and follow the road that runs along the dam wall, about 1/2 way along you will notice a small car park with stairs that go up to the top of the dam wall. Stop and park there. Follow the stairs all the way to the top and use your GPSr to take you straight to the Cache.

NB: THIS CAR PARK IS LOCKED BUT YOU CAN STILL WALK UP THE TRACK WITH CAUTION IF YOU ARE NOT CONFIDENT YOU CAN WALK FROM THE SPILLWAY AREA ALONG THE DAM WALL. YOU CAN EVEN CYCLE TO GZ!!

This area once was designed for bird watching and you used to be able to stroll down to the platform unfortunately the path is closed and the bird watching platform is gone

The cache has been slightly moved so you only need to do a little bit of Rock Hopping to get to it from the the
main Dam wall path.

The cache is a short Grey PVC Pipe Cache.

If you are really stuck I have provided you a spoiler photo

Please replace the lid tightly to prevent water from entering the container, also please place the cache back where it was found so that others can enjoy the find.

Enjoy the hunt.
