Nature’s Treasures: Meander River
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This area of the Meander River is a very special place. The flood plain habitat with underlying bedrock of gypsum is home to some unique wildflowers such as showy lady's-slipper, bloodroot, jack-in-the-pulpit, nodding trillium, yellow violet and dog violet. It is also home to a rare species of damselfly. Our family knows just how special this river is, as further downstream it runs along the back of our property.
The cache is a camoed 1 kg. peanut butter jar containing a log book, pencils and nature themed swag. Hanging from a wire below the cache is a Ziploc bag containing a wildflower field guide as a FTF prize. If possible, please try to keep within the theme of the cache when making your trades.
Be very careful where you tread and please do not pick the wildflowers that bloom in the spring. They should be left alone for future generations to enjoy!
The coordinates for off season parking when the gate is locked (for the months of September through to May ) are N 45° 00.830 W 063° 57.706 .
Thank you to the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources (Windsor Office) for permission to hide this cache.
