Tore Hund Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

cervisvenator: Hi

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

(This reviewer note is in English so non-Norwegian cache owners, geocachers and cache reviewers can understand what it says.)

Thanks for your understanding,

Tore Hund Høvding i Hålogaland. Chief in Hålogaland. He lived on the island Bjarkøy, which was a centre for the commerce with the Sami people. Tore Hund made several commercial journies and viking raids to Bjarmeland, which is the name the vikings used on the land and people living south and southwest of the White sea and along the river Dvina. Tore became king Olav Haraldsson's (St. Olaf) administrative official, but later the relationship between the two went cold, espesially after the king had killed his brother's son, Asbjørn Selsbane. Tore went to England to get the support of Knut the Mighty. At the battle of Stiklestad Tore was one of the leaders of the peasant's army and commited blood vengeance to the king with the same spear that had been used to kill the son of his brother. When Olav was announced holy and a saint, Tore went on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, but his further destiny is unknown. The cache will be maintained by myself when I visit the place, otherwise it will be maintained by familie who lives on the spot.
