BPJC Portbury Road Layby M5 J19 Traditional Cache

robnrsheils: [xx(] [xx(] Went to check this afternoon as it is almost impossible to not find this cache. As I feared, the cache has gone. It's a miracle it survived to the end of the competition. [xx(][xx(]

Geocache Description:

This is our entry in
Birdie's Peach Jar Cache Competition.

Please help us to win by going out of your way to find and log our cache.

This is a quick and easy 'cache&dash'. When you come off the motorway at junction 19 take the A369 towards Bristol (signed to Clifton). Take the first turning right towards Portbury village (not Portbury dock which is the other side of the motorway) and immediately left into the lay-by. Obviously if you are approaching from Bristol you take the last left just before the motorway roundabout. If the lay-by is full there is room for one car to park 50 metres further towards Portbury on the right.

You will find the cache between the two parking places. Looking from the lay-by it is under the bent trunk of an ash tree in the left hand verge well before you get to the first lamp standard. Take care, this is a deceptively busy road in the day-time, but the verge is quite wide here.

The following photographs show the tree (it is at the centre of the longer range photo)

and the alternative parking.

You will find other competitors offer you bits of paper and vague promises. I, on the other hand, have furnished the cache with a supply of crystal spheres. Take one of these with you. Look into it deeply and let it inspire you to a small positive act for yourself and also for someone you love. If you can, share the result with us in the computer log. You will also find a clue to my 'difficult' cache in this competition GC1WTNA 'A caravanning anecdote'. To avoid confusion I would prefer no other swaps except trackables.

So - I add in competitive spirit and with tongue very much in cheek - forget the dreary Services car park, bring your own coffee and enjoy the 'countryside' while you log my cache.

I only knew about this competition one week before the closing date so I hope you will bear with its clunky nature. I acknowledge a debt to one or two other competitors whose ideas I have adapted, I hope that, in the unusual conditions of this competition - anything goes- they will not take offence.
