A chance to explore the Fenland Market Town of Holbeach.
Please note that the above Co-ordinates are for Stage 1 of this short/quick Multi-Cache.
Parking available at a number of Town Car Parks and lay-by areas.
All Questions can be answered from pavements/paths, so therefore suitable for Wheelchair Users - however the Final would need asistance on the Footpath and for retrieval of Cache.
Holbeach is a Market Town, comprising of approx. 5,000 inhabitants. The 14th. Century All Saints Church lies at its heart, and the Town comprises a number of well-known High Street Businesses, together with some good examples of smaller, independent Retailers.
Until the beginning of the 19th century, the sea came to within two miles of the town and there were severe floods recorded in the 13th and 16th centuries. The land drainage programmes of the 18th and 19th centuries moved the coastline of The Wash to nine miles away, leaving Holbeach surrounded by more than 23,000 acres of reclaimed fertile agricultural land.
The Prime Meridian of the world passes through the West of Holbeach.
