Geocache Description:

This area seemed too beautiful to not have a cache, and too complex for a quick park-and-grab. Instead, I’ve created a simple multi so you can see both areas of the park.

You’ll start at the upper area, Stratton Gardens. You can stop and admire the vast array of flowers, landscaping, view and art, or just quickly collect what you need, which is:

How many benches are there?

Then make your way down to the Overlook Memorial Park, which would be a good time to collect the rest of the information you need, which is:

How many steps (times you step down) are there between the two parks?

Take the two numbers (benches + steps) and add them together, then add 13. You’ll end up with a two digit number you’ll use to replace the last two digits of the posted North coord.

Once in the Overlook Memorial Park, you’ll need to count several things and add the totals together. They are:

Go to the stone memorial that is dedicated to the men and women who served to keep America free. The ones listed were Hood River county residents that gave the ultimate sacrifice.

How many people are listed for World War I?
How many people are listed for the Korean War?
How many people are listed for the Vietnam War?

And not to discount the number that served in WWII, but that’s sadly too many to count right now, you have a cache to get. To appease your curiosity, though, the answer is 55. Ignore that number and look at the fish.

How many fish are in the waterfall?
How many are on the sidewalk?

And lastly, count the number of flagpoles.

Got your total? Add 13 to it, and it’ll be a two digit number you’ll use to replace the last two digits of the posted West coord.

Then go get the cache.
