I couldn't find the smashed ammo can in the mud and snow (2/21) and have replaced it with a small container nearby. IT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HANGING. A flashlight might help you locate the hiding spot. I have left a "tott" about ten feet to the south.
Be careful when handling the tool because it has sharp pointy things and please replace the tool and the cache as you found it. DON'T LEAVE IT HANGING. Muggles will probably not bother it if it is a challenge to retrieve
I spotted this place from the interstate on my way home today. I have never noticed it before and I have passed this way hundreds of times. Perhaps I had been watching the road but probably not. I pulled off at the next exit to explore my find and was fascinated and very creative in my guesses about what this place was originally. The gate was locked so I didn't explore any further but I was very tempted to wander in, on foot, and take a look around. It is evident that the place gets very little attention.
I understand that it was intended to become an elite, fly-in community.
