Mouflonery is a small series of Traditional caches in places that hold special memories for us, whether for a momentous occasion or just as a favourite spot to shelter from the stresses of life.
Mouflons are a sub species of wild sheep, which we first encountered in the mountains of Cyprus on our first holiday together. They are a proud and hardy animal, going on against all odds and sticking together. They were the inspiration for the “Revenge of Mouflon” story.
The cache site is where we can often be found having a nap in the car during a hard day’s Geocaching, particularly in heavy rain, before heading off for some chips in Cheddar Gorge. Hmmmm…. Chips…..
This cache is situated next to the Cheddar Reservoir near Axbridge. It is an ideal excuse to visit the area, which is open to the public at all times, and where you can walk around the entire circumference of the man-made lake on a tarmac pathway. Dogs are normally welcome, provided the grazing sheep are not bothered by them, though the sheep are only on the lake side of the fence.
Finding the cache may be hampered by the presence of muggles, though they will often just be dog walkers or joggers arriving or leaving in their cars.
Please make sure the container is pushed well back when replacing it to ensure it’s not visible to the casual muggle.
