This is a cache with perks, for several reasons! The cache is located near Coffee Pot Canoe Landing. and has nice camping related tresaures in it!
This is a cache with perks, for several reasons! The cache is located near one of the canoe landings on the Mississippi River Headwaters, and this landing is known as "Coffee Pot Landing" due to the clear coffee-colored water that percolates gently through low level rapids here. The water is naturally stained brown, due to plant tannins from nearby bogs, and high iron content of the nearby springs. You may reach this cache by canoe, after a day or two of easy paddling from the Mississippi Headwaters at nearby Itasca State Park, or you can easily travel by car along County Road 9 west of Becida, until you turn off the road at the DNR canoe access sign. The landing has two campsites, and you will have to find your way between them and across the river to find the cache!
This is a "cache with perks" for another reason, too--since this cache is a bit out of the way for most folks, it takes a bit of doing to get here! So we put some pretty nice treasures for you to find, such as: a new, never worn camo shirt, a zipper pull camping compass, a small flashlight, a new green baseball hat, a small travel clock in the shape of a fishing rod, a pen in the shape of a carved bald eagle, a set of coasters with fish designs, and a packet of coffee, of course, since you are at Coffee Pot Landing!
