Geocache Description:

The second part of the Ock Circular walk, following on from Part A. This cache is well hidden in an area that can be muddy / stinging nettley, and is probably not wheelchair accessible.

The Ock Circular information

The Ock Circular geocache series uses the short section of the Abingdon-Marcham Ock Valley walk from St Helens Church to the bridge just before Drayton Road.  The walk runs between two parts of the Ock river and is a haven for wildlife and plants.  The area flooded pretty badly in 2007, and may flood again.  The ground therefore can get pretty muddy at times, and during the summer there are stinging nettles, so shorts are not advised.

Parking is at N51 40.112 W001 17.051 - I'm not sure how much it costs, but it is a pay & display.  You enter the walk over a small bridge At the end of the walk, you need to take a right (assuming you started at the right end!) across the bridge, and then walk down Ock Street, an historic street that is central to Abingdon's history, so much so that it has it's own morris-dancing Mayor, elected once a year!  Taking a right down Coopers Lane, just before the Brewery Tap will take you past the old Brewery and back to the car park to complete the circular walk.

I originally intended to make this a 4 part cache with a bonus, but this didn't really work out due to lack of suitable places.  You can therefore ignore the special instructions / co-ordinates in the caches (unless anyone wants to set one up, and if so, feel free).

The Ock Circular B: Flood Zone

Having continued the pleasant stroll down from part A of this circular walk down into one of the flood affected areas (incidentally, did you see any of the pygmy deers that live here?), there is a nice small tupperware to reward you, which may or may not have a small pencil in (so bring your own!).  GPS coverage may be iffy under the trees, so watch out.  Geokiddies should be well tethered as the walk gets close to the river in places, and trousers are advised to avoid stingers.  This cache is probably not wheelchair suitable.
