Hopkins Road was called Swamp Road on maps dated 1909, Swamp Road must of got it's name due to the fact that it crossed the Great Baehre Swamp, originally this road was a type made up of logs and called a corduroy road. North of Williamsville, at that time, was mostly farm land.
The fastest way to get to Williamsville from the north was Swamp Road.
Campbell Blvd then called New Home Road jogged past Ellicott Creek, going south on what is now Stahl Rd, west along what is now North Forest and then south again on what is now St Ritas Lane (the old section of Millersport Hwy), North French then called French Road, ended at Dodge and was not extended to Transit until the 1950s
Some other road name changes...
Schoelles Rd. was Gebhardt Rd.
Smith Rd. / Lapp Rd
The area where the cache is located was farm land until the early 60s. When I moved to this area in 1972 I don't remember many trees on this corner, it was was just an overgrown field. So now you know what 40 years of growth looks like.
