This cache is located just outside of Clareville Cemetery
between Masterton and Carterton. There is no need to enter
graveyard to find the cache.

Interest), including ...
- Ellen Dougherty: the 1st registered nurse in the world; New
Zealand was the first country to require the registration of
nurses, and Ellen Dougherty was the first to register. She was born
in 1844, became a registered nurse in 1902, and died in 1919. Her
grave was restored as part of the centenary of Nursing and
rededicated on the centenary of her nursing registration.
- Charles Rooking Carter: Builder, businessman, politician,
writer, philanthropist (1822-1896), after whom the town of
Carterton is named. He was involved in the purchase of land in the
Wairarapa during the 1850s. His philanthropy includes Carter Scenic Reserve near
Carterton and Carter
Observatory in Wellington.
